Bayesian Decision Making in Groups is Hard

چکیده

We study the computations that Bayesian agents undertake when exchanging opinions over a network. The act repeatedly on their private information and take myopic actions maximize expected utility according to fully rational posterior belief. show such are NP-hard for two natural functions: one with binary actions, another where reveal beliefs. In fact, we distinguishing between posteriors concentrated different states of world is NP-hard. Therefore, even approximating beliefs hard. also describe search algorithm compute agents' which call elimination impossible signals, if network transitive, can be modified run in polynomial time.

Dynamic Non-Bayesian Decision Making

The model of a non-Bayesian agent who faces a repeated game with incomplete information against Nature is an appropriate tool for modeling general agent-environment interactions. In such a model the environment state (controlled by Nature) may change arbitrarily, and the feedback/reward function is initially unknown. The agent is not Bayesian, that is he does not form a prior probability neithe...

Application of Bayesian decision making tool in detecting oil-water contact in a carbonate reservoir

Detection of Oil-Water Contacts (OWCs) is one of the primary tasks before evaluation of reservoir’s hydrocarbon in place, determining net pay zones and suitable depths for perforation operation. This paper introduces Bayesian decision making tool as an effective technique in OWC detecting using wire line logs. To compare strengths of the suggested method in detecting OWC with conventional one, ...

Modeling Collective Decision-Making in Animal Groups

Granovskiy, B. 2012. Modeling Collective Decision-Making in Animal Groups. Department of Mathematics. Uppsala Dissertations in Mathematics 78. 49 pp. Uppsala. Many animal groups benefit from making decisions collectively. For example, colonies of many ant species are able to select the best possible nest to move into without every ant needing to visit each available nest site. Similarly, honey ...
